  6. The Day After Tomorrow...(2004)
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum.

This movie takes all our worst fears about global warming, melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, massive super hurricanes, an instant "New Ice Age" ... generally, all our worst nightmares... and compresses them all into a week or two rather than several decades or centuries.

  7. World Trade Center.... (2006)
Starring: Nicholas Cage, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mario Bello, Michael Pena.

An Oliver Stone movie based on the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11 2001. The story deals with the heroic efforts of Port Authority police officers who are themselves trapped when the South Tower collapses.

  8. An Inconvenient Truth... (2006)
    Documentary: Al Gore.

Gore delivers a powerful warning about a rapidly approaching crisis caused by man-induced Global Warming and climate change.

He endeavors to show the possible devastating effects this will have on many nations and their peoples.

This could end up the most shocking disaster "movie" of all our top ten movies... because we might all get to play a part in this one.

  9. Titanic... (2007)
Starring:Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane.

This movie by James Cameron about the disastrous maiden voyage of the Titanic went on to become the Highest Grossing Movie of all time (currently $1.8 billion and counting), only to be relegated to second place with the release of his next movie Avatar (currently $2.8 billion and counting).

  10. 2012...(2009)
Starring: John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, and Woody Harrelson.

This doomsday extravaganza of special effects is inspired by end-of-the-world predictions based on the Mayan Calendar apparently ending after a 5,125 year cycle... supposedly it all ends on December 21st, 2012.

It's more than a bit unbelievable... but one heck of a ride making it one of our top ten movies.
